Dear Members
You will have seen the Covid 19 restrictions applying to the forthcoming indoor season at St Andrews Club.
On 21st August 2020 the Government issued new guidelines which have been passed on to clubs via EIBA.
The government has made the wearing of face masks mandatory in Indoor Sports Stadiums. As a result any person entering an Indoor Sports Club
will need to wear a face mask at all times, until they leave the premises.
Once in the club individuals would only be permitted to remove face covering for the following actions:

  1. When on the rink with 2 metre social distancing in place, due to partaking in exercise.
  2. Due to mental or physical illness or impairment, disability.

The above, together with the Covid 19 instructions already issued are, naturally designed to make it safer for individuals to partake in their sport.
A few weeks ago I asked you all individually if you wished to play at St Andrews. In view of the latest restrictions and substantial increase in new Carona virus cases,
I feel as your organiser, we need to ask ourselves if a game of bowls is worth risking the health and wellbeing of Members in these difficult and uncertain Covid 19 times.
I have therefore taken the decision to abandon the 2020-2021 season on safety grounds
and reconvene in October 2021, when hopefully the situation will have improved.

Naturally, I realise that this decision will not please everyone but feel that it is only common sense to take the above action.
With Best Regards
